Morrowind Modding Showcases – HD Vanilla Textures

Today for Morrowind Modding Showcases, we’re taking a look at the extensive HD Vanilla Textures mod by G The Generous, a nearly complete texture replacer package replacing the textures of vanilla Morrowind, Mournhold and Solstheim with more up-to-date, higher resolution, and upscaled textures that are otherwise exactly like the vanilla textures found in the base-game. Covering pretty much everything, this is an ideal replacer for those looking for something vanilla-friendly that doesn’t change the feel of the game. And to provide a detailed showcase, we’ll be providing a tour of pretty much all of Vvardenfell with these textures, so you can see whether or not you want them in your game!

Morrowind Modding Podcasts – The Future of Morrowind

Today we have a new episode of our little-known Morrowind Modding Podcasts series covering the topic of “The Future of Morrowind” with quest modders MauiEyes, Caeris and Dagoth Agahnim as part of our guest-panel. Originally recorded in September of 2017 with nearly two hours of audio, we discuss a number of different topics regarding the future of the Morrowind Modding Community, from the province mods to TES3MP to Bethesda’s new “Paid Mods” fiasco and much more, with the occasional off-topic ramblings. One of three podcasts we did in the Fall of 2017, we’ll be back in the coming weeks with the other two podcasts (covering dungeon mods and the province mods respectively) as we finish up audio-editing. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this somewhat long and meandering podcast as we discuss all the future might entail!

Skyrim – Might of Markarth Trailer

The great city of Markarth, one of the truly remarkable seats of Nordic power in Skyrim, stands as a bastion along the borders of the Reach and the northern stretches of Haafinheim. Strongly fortified with massive stone walls, Markarth is a more traditional Nordic city, featuring the stone foundations and wooden beams and rafters more commonly associated with this Northern people, rather than the more Redguard-style dwellings of Karthwasten and Dragonstar. Sitting upon the mighty Karth river, Markarth is a vital trading port and military garrison guarding the river-ways, from whence trading vessels pass down to Karthgad and Karthwasten and up to the capital of Haafingar along the northern coast.

Once a Direnni city long ago, Markarth is home to two unmistakably unique and massive structures, the first of which is Elfstone Keep, a massive Direnni fort that can be seen for miles around, and from where Jarl Barda the Builder rules over Markarth, as well as much of the Reach, and he is perhaps one of the most powerful men in Skyrim. The second is the College of the Voice, a massive towering wooden-structure that has a bit of a hollow appearance, originally founded by Tiber Septim at the beginning of the Third Era for the training of warriors to use the Voice, though these days it serves scholars more so than warriors. Either way, Markarth is a political, economic, and academic powerhouse in the region, and is perhaps one of the most important cities in Skyrim.

While not yet available for download, the city of Markarth, and the surrounding region, are now pretty much exterior-complete, and will soon be populated with interiors and quests. As such the Skyrim – Home of the Nords team does, as always, need more interior and questing modders, and if you’re interested in helping out the project, feel free to stop by their website, submit a showcase, and lend a hand to this most impressive province mod!

Skyrim – The Reach Release Trailer – A Morrowind Mod

Beyond the edge of the Vorndgad Forest, where the trees thin out and the Karth River’s source can be seen, lies Karthwasten, the most sprawling and prosperous city in The Reach. Conquered in a bloody siege decades ago, the peace between native Redguards and conquering Nords has been an uneasy one; something not helped by the actions of the impetuous King-appointed Jarl, Jona the Ansei-Ender. Banished to Dragonstar, a thane governs in her place over a city that has almost as many secrets as it does traders.

Beyond the city limits lies Karthwasten County. The Lorchwuir Heath is less claustrophobic than the forest but hardly less dangerous; bandits lie in ambush to attack unprepared caravans on the way to Karthwasten, whilst wild beasts and worse roam the low fields and skulk in their caves. Further afield still, atop the rocky mesas in the distance, Reachmen make their camps, shunned by everyone except their own kind.

Will you spend your wealth in Karthwasten’s markets, or amass it outside the walls?

The Skyrim: Home of the Nords Team are proud to present the second release in our efforts at bringing the province of Skyrim to the world of TESIII: Morrowind. It represents the work of many talented modders over the past few years and includes the following features:

– 200+ exterior cells of landscape
– 150+ interior cells, including the massive city of Karthwasten, an explorer’s paradise, as well as dozens of locations for you to loot in classic TES fashion.
– A comprehensively revamped Karthgad and Vorndgad Forest from the first release.
– Specially-modelled exterior and interior assets to flesh out the settlements of the Reach, including Reachmen camps and Direnni ruins.
– NPCs with extensive dialogue, along with and some quests in Karthgad, Karthwasten, and the surrounding wilderness. Additional quests will follow in subsequent patches.
– New books, armor, clothing, weapons, and more.

Morrowind May Modathon Month 2017 – Celebrating 15 Years of Morrowind!

In the early days of May 2002, a little game came out called The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. It would go on to save Bethesda Softworks from bankruptcy, sell millions of copies, and become the most popular game for modding at the turn of the century. Now, 15 years later, over 23,000 mods have been released for Morrowind with the modding community still going strong.

In order to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Morrowind, we’re doing something special, we’re holding the third annual May Modathon Month! Throughout the entire month of May, participating modders on the Nexus, TAL and GHF who submit Morrowind mods could get a chance to win indie or AAA games each week. Likewise, all participating mods will be entered to win the Mod of the Month Award, with a ton of games as a prize.

Not only that, but all winners will get trailers, special showcases, and numerous video features on Morrowind Modding Showcases. And the winner of the Mod of the Month award will naturally get their mod featured in our Mod of the Month series, celebrating the best mods released each month for Morrowind.

You can participate by leaving a short note in the mod description page at Morrowind Nexus and GHF that includes “Part of the May Modathon Month”. Remember, this only applies to mods released in May, so let’s all get to modding and make this the 15th Anniversary that Morrowind deserves!

Tamriel Rebuilt – Telvanni Isles Trailer

A rough but civilized landscape of islands, peninsulas, mountains, and ancient coves, the Telvanni Isles are home to the capital and largest cities of Great House Telvanni on the Morrowind mainland. Here you’ll find giant mushrooms and roots dominating the landscape, where the magics of Telvanni wizards have shaped the very land itself, forming massive forests where they’ve built their cities and towers away from the outside world, and uprooting ancient structures in their way.

Though this territory belongs to House Telvanni, they do share it with more than a few Imperial settlements, with the bastion of Imperial power, Firewatch, casting a wary gaze upon their xenophobic and magically-inclined neighbors. Home to numerous settlements, both large and small, the capital of the Telvanni, Port Telvannis, and a large array of both Dwemer and Daedric ruins, there’s a lot to explore and see in the Telvanni Isles, but there’s many dangers that lurk here, and not all of them come from careless old wizards.

The Telvanni Isles was one of the first regions to be released by Tamriel Rebuilt, going all the way back to Map 1 in 2007. This area is more or less complete, with dozens of quests for you to do, dungeons to fight through, and cities to explore. If you want to help out with this massive project though and contribute to one of the oldest continuously worked on mod projects in Morrowind’s history, why not head over to their website and join the team today?

Skyrim – Beauty of the Reach Trailer – A Morrowind Mod

The northern province of Skyrim, home of the Nords and numerous ancient civilizations, is a land that has often been wrought with conflict. None more so than the territory known as the Reach in western Skyrim, where Hammerfall and High Rock share often contentious borders with the Nords, occasionally exchanging cities and towns in this borderland during any of a number of minor battles and wars. But aside from the constant din of war-drums and deadly conflict, the Reach is a strangely beautiful place, a wild and diverse landscape not yet completely tamed by the hands of man or mer, despite thousands of years of civilizations that have risen here only to crumble in time to dust. Here you’ll find dense forests, towering mountains, beautiful mesas, shallow rivers, and ancient ruins sitting side by side, where Nord, Reachman, Redguard and Orc fight to maintain what little bit of this lush territory they can.

To be sure, the Reach is a dangerous place, but it’s also one of scenic beauty. Like a garden rose, it’s a joy to look at from a distance, but be careful not to get too close, least you find yourself bleeding from one of the Reach’s many thorns.

While not all of the Reach is available for play, parts of the Vorndgad Forest can be visited today as part of Skyrim – Home of the Nord’s first alpha release, though it’s important to note that this is a fairly out-dated release, and pretty much everything from that early version has been changed. Currently the SHOTN team is looking to make a major release that includes the new version of Vorndgad Forest, with the towns of Karthgad and Karthwasten included, sometime in the near future, so stay tuned to their website for more information!

With that said, Skyrim – Home of the Nords needs more modders, especially to work on the cities of Markarth and Dragonstar, so if you want to help out, head on over to Project Tamriel and join the team!
